Course President Rick Czapla today announced Saturday, Sept. 26, as the official date of the Czapwoods Invitational. A rain date of Oct. 3 has been set in case of inclement weather.
The driving range will open at noon, with the tournament starting at 1 p.m.
Warm weather has returned to the wooded gem, and the renowned Czapwoods grounds crew is preparing to launch into full course maintenance mode for summer.
This summer brings with it a host of projects to get the course in world-class shape, including mowing, brush removal, and a few surprises.
Meanwhile, the course's esteemed Communications & Public Relations department is also preparing to ready a new course map, scorecards, tee markers and invitations for the fall classic.
So stay tuned. It's going to be a busy summer as we at Czapwoods Country Club prepare for the 2009 Czapwoods Invitational.
The rustic fairways of Czapwoods currently sit below a deep blanket of snow and ice from recent storms, but the spring planning is heating up in the clubhouse.
Course President Rick Czapla surveyed the course this past weekend and developed plans to update Holes 3 and 8. With work currently suspended by snow on Holes 4, 5 and 6, the latest plans will make for a busy spring at Czapwoods.
"We've got some work we can tend to before the snow melts," said Course Vice President Jon Graney. "Once the snow and ice are gone, though, the course changes will really start taking shape."
"I walk the course every weekend," President Czapla said. "This fall's tournament is going to be something!"

As 2009 rings in, changes are afoot at Czapwoods Country Club.
Czapwoods is proud to announce this new Web site in conjunction with the renovation of the course.
Visitors to the Czapwoods Invitational this fall will be treated to a new course layout, with four brand new holes and changes to almost all the others.
In fact, virtually every hole on the course will benefit from the 2009 course makeover.
Work is currently under way on the new 3rd Hole -- a grueling Par 4 with a sharp dog-leg right and an undulating terrain riddled with traps.
"The hole should prove to be a monster in the 2009 tournament," said Course President Rick Czapla.
Major work is finished on the new 5th Hole, an all-new Par 4. The long, green fairway turns gently to the left, setting up a crucial second shot.
"The second shot is going to make or break you on the new 5th," said Course Vice President Jon Graney.
The course will feature a new Par 3, as well as tee box repositioning on the 7th, 8th, and 9th Holes.
The former 3rd Hole is also being reconfigured.
Return players will recognize a couple of familiar faces. The 2nd Hole, the Par 4 that runs down the side of the clubhouse from the road, remains.
In addition, the 8th Hole, lauded as "The Gem of Czapwoods," remains relatively unchanged as well.
The final layout of the course will be announced in early 2009. Stay tuned for more information.
